One of Oz’s top welterweights, Chad “Hollywood” Bennett, headlines the Blaster Promotions bill taking place on Friday in Newcastle West, New South Wales, Australia. Bennett, 15-1-3 (10) will try and take down the far more experienced Thailander, Plaisakda Singwangcha, who brings a 26-8 (22) mark to the party. On the table is the vacant IBO Intercontinental trophy. The tourist Singwangcha has dropped four of his last five, all by stoppage and all in a wide range of weight classes. During those bouts, the Thai puncher shared the ring with world number one ranked middleweight contender Sam Soliman, top Aussie light middleweight Shannan Taylor, undefeated Indonesian light welterweight Daudy Bahari and most recently, unbeaten Ukrainian welterweight prospect Yuriy Nuzhnenko.
Chad Bennett is the current IBF Pan Pacific welterweight boss and has a great deal of experience facing fighters from Thailand. Most recently the Newcastle man pulled off a spectacular first round knockout against former PABA light welterweight title holder Kiatchai 13 Riantower earlier this month in the Sydney suburb of Penrith.
Also scheduled to see action Friday in Newcastle West is reigning OPBF middleweight kingpin Saiko “The Scorpion” Baika and in a rematch for the IBF Pan Pacific super middleweight bauble, Daniel Lovett and Joel Burke.
