David Tua got a genuine fright tonight on the Warrior Boxing bill at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino when opponent Cisse Salif wouldn’t lie down but instead gave the New Zealander a difficult time during their scheduled ten round heavyweight bout. Salif became the first Tua victim to finish the fight on his feet since 1998 as the powerful South Auckland man was unable to get the much taller New York journeyman on his way. Tua, 44-3-1 (38), will likely face one of the reigning heavyweight champions in the near future.
Earlier on the same fight card, Jameel McCline wasn’t near as lucky David Tua, and the towering New Jersey native was categorically outboxed by unhearlded Zuri Lawrence. This is the third loss in four fights for McCline and now the thirty five year old must make measurable changes to his fighting style if he is to have a chance against the top class heavyweights treading the boards today.
