ShoBox And DiBella May Hold The Keys To \”The Next Generation\”

Showtime and DiBella Entertainment have teamed up to bring possibly the best ShoBox boxing card since the program’s inception in 2001. The card will feature veteran light middleweight southpaw Sechew “Iron Horse” Powell as the headlining attraction and New York State Super Middleweight Champ Jaidon “The Don” Codrington in an exciting co-main event. Also on the bill is light heavyweight knockout artist Curtis “Showtime” Stevens.

The fighters are scheduled to appear on “The Next Generation” ShoBox program to be aired live on November 4, 2005, starting at 11pm at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma. Powell, Codrington and Stevens are looked upon as this year’s fastest rising stars in boxing, and although Powell is not considered new to the sport by any means, he’s beginning to attract a lot of attention from the media and fans alike for his tremendous power and relentless fortitude in the ring.

In his most recent outing, the Brooklynite knocked down Santiago Samaniego in the first round and finished him off after a late knockdown, scoring a TKO, which caused the dislocation of Samaniego’s right shoulder. In his bout against Cornelius Bundrage, he and Bundrage were both knocked down in the first round, but Powell regained his composure and finished the fight as the victor. Sechew Powell is set to face twelveth ranked IBF junior middleweight, Archak Ter-Meliksetian.

Out of Queens, New York, by way of Connecticut is the ever impressive super middleweight Jaidon “The Don” Codrington, who brings to the game a swagger reminiscent of Muhammad Ali in his prime. The swift jabbing boxer has knocked out all of his opponents in high fashion. In his boxing arsenal he brings not only the jab, but also tremendous hand speed, combined with graceful footwork and combinations that ripped through the bodies of some of his toughest and experienced opponents. Jaidon is a truly gifted fighter, with the poise of an experienced champion. Much is to be expected and much will be accomplished from this talent.

And rounding out the fight card will be the explosive and devastating puncher Curtis “Showtime” Stevens and when he enters the ring it is definitely SHOWTIME! The Brownsville native is a force to be reckoned with! There’s no getting around him. Many of his opponents came into the ring in top shape, but leave with broken hands, ribs and not to mention having their pride completely snatched away from them. He and Jaidon have been known to the boxing world as the “Chin Checkers” but the two are coming into their own with different styles and approaches to their craft.

With Stevens being more of the aggressor, he dismantles opponents with relative ease. He too has been compared to a world champion fighter, in Mike Tyson, who by the way is also from Brownsville, Brooklyn. With his mammoth build and enormous punching power, Curtis Stevens will only get stronger and better with time. A hopeful thought for the state of boxing, but also a scary one for the future of the light heavyweight division, if he so choose to stay and fight at that weight.

Whatever the case may be for these rising stars, we can look towards the future in hope that the state of the fight game will ever increase with the popularity it once held when the likes of Ali, Tyson and Holyfield stepped into the ring. Fight fans need to tune in on November 4, 2005, to ShoBox, “The Next Generation” and witness the future of boxing as Sechew Powell, Jaidon Codrington and Curtis Stevens make their presence felt in the junior middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
