Despite coming into his bout with top American based Nigerian middleweight Kingsley “Sharp Knuckle” Ikeke as the underdog, Arthur Abraham proved his critics wrong by delivering a thorough beating to the remarkably tall African. The Armenian strongman from Germany had promised to close distance and take the fight to the long armed Ikeke and true to his word was able to get past the stinging jab of his foe and administer his powerful inside attack to the head and body. By the fifth round Ikeke was in definite trouble on the ropes but could not stop the buzzsaw like Abraham from wreaking havoc with his wrecking ball assault. A withering Abraham left hook finished the stricken favorite, who fell heavily to the canvas to signal the end of the contest. With the win Arthur Abraham secures the vacant IBF Middleweight title and considering his recent victory over premier European campaigner Howard Eastman, has certified his standing as one of the division’s elite.
