James Obede Toney has informed the Commonwealth Boxing Council that he is unable to make the Middleweight Championship weight limit. British Middleweight Champion Scott Dann will now challenge Canadian Middleweight Champion Larry Sharpe for the vacant title. Larry Sharpe who is listed as one of the Commonwealth challengers was in training for a contest in February.

Vuyani Kheswa has informed the Commonwealth Boxing Council is unable to challenge for the vacant title on 10th February 2006. Lee Haskins will now challenge Tanzanian Anthony Mathais for the vacant title. Mathais is on the list as one of the Commonwealth Challengers. On 27th December 2006 Mathais lost a 12 round decision to world class Thai boxer Pramuansak Posuwan so is ready to challenge at short notice.
