Boston Boxing \”Superbrawl\” Weigh-In

ByDavid Schanzle 2/4/20065/12/2013

Don’t Miss Tonight’s NER Promotions Fightcard at The Castle at Park Place In Boston

The weigh-in for tonight’s six fight “Superbrawl” in Boston took place in the small basement of Remington’s Bar and Grill yesterday. Except for the scale onstage, a stranger wandering in would not have guessed that this was where a boxing weigh-in was to take place, so laid back was the atmosphere in the crowded room. Light middleweight hot prospect Yuri Foreman sat at the bar piano and played classical

music, while lightweight Jorge Teron played on his portable game console and the crowded barroom of fighters, promoters, managers and trainers fell into casual conversation as all waited latecomer super middle Chris Traietti to show up.

The headliner, undefeated middleweight John Duddy, stripped to his underwear and came in at 162lbs even. His opponent, New Haven, CT based Julio Jean, tipped the scales at 164lbs and bowed his head in disappointment. Though Duddy could have taken issue, the magnanimous Irishman assured Jean that his camp would not force the spoiler from Haiti to drop the last pound to make weight.

Rising star and co-headliner Yuri Foreman weighed-in at 155lbs. His opponent for the ten round light middleweight match, South Boston’s Jimmy “The Dream” LeBlanc, came in at 152.5 lbs.

Jorge Teron, the tall, almost lanky Golden Gloves champion from the Bronx, weighed 136lbs, and stood close to a head taller than the five foot six Virginia southpaw, Marcus “Bad” Luck, who came in at 133.5lbs for their scheduled six round lightweight bout.

Squaring off for a four round super middleweight undercard event, nineteen year old Westfield College Student and reserve Airman Chris Traietti balanced out at 163lbs even. Twenty five year old Bernard Higgins, a former amateur kickboxer making his pro boxing debut, weighed 163lbs.

Scheduled for a four round lightweight undercard event, Haverhill, MA based Simeon Dunwell weighed 134.5 lbs while Sylvester Beard, also making his pro debut, came in a ripped 128lbs.

For a four round super lightweight undercard; Rhode Island based Eddie Soto weighed in at 139lbs and his opponent, Cleveland Ohio based Anthony Hartman, weighed 136lbs.

  • Callum Smith injured 4/7/2026
Callum Smith has pulled out of the David Morrell fight which was due to take place in his hometown Liverpool on 18rh April. I was looking forward to this fight. Callum has a rib injury during training camp. This is a big blow for him as he has not fought since he had that epic victory over Joshua Buatsi. Ben Whittaker will be headlining the event now. talksp […]
  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 4/7/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]

  • Devin Haney vs Rolly Romero collapses 4/3/2026
Negotiations for a WBO and WBA welterweight unification clash between Devin Haney and Rolly Romero have reportedly collapsed. Organisers had planned for the fight to headline a PBC event on May 30, live on Amazon Prime PPV. Haney has turned down the fight. The reason for Haney pulling the plug is that he wasn’t offered a guaranteed purse. PBC instead propose […]
  • Rene Santiago to defend his WBA and WBO junior flyweight belts in Japan 4/2/2026
Rene’s not talked about much. Even here in Puerto Rico he’s not as well known as Xander Zayas or even Oscar Collazo. But he’s got 2 of the 4 belts in the division, and tonight he defends them against Masataka Taniguchi in Japan. Gotta hand it to him. This is his 3rd straight fight in Japan. I admire any fighter who’s willing to go halfway around the world to […]

"My corner had told me ‘forget about boxing, do what you do best, now it’s time to have […]

  • Bromance between AJ and Usyk 3/31/2026
What is happening between AJ and Usyk? They were seen holding hands as Usyk was showing AJ graves of Ukrainian soldiers. Is this just mind games to help AJ gain confidence to […]
