In what figures to be an exciting, hard-hitting battle, undefeated IBF flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan will make his United States debut and third title defense when he faces IBF No. 6 contender, southpaw Diosdado Gabi, in the Friday, March 3 main event on “ShoBox: The New Generation” on SHOWTIME (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).
The 12-round world title fight between Darchinyan (24-0, 19 KOs) and Gabi (26-2-1, 19 KOs) will be the second in the history of the popular, well-received SHOWTIME boxing series. In the first “ShoBox” world title fight, Scott Harrison retained his WBO featherweight crown with a fourth-round knockout over Michael Brodie on June 3, 2005.
The March 3 co-feature on the Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, doubleheader at Chumash Resort & Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif, will be announced in the near future.
