Martin Power makes the second defence of his British bantamweight title when he takes on Darlington’s Isaac “Argy’ Ward at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on the 10^th March 2006.
Power won the title by beating Dale Robinson and defended it successfully against Ian Napa on points is looking for a stoppage victory against the unbeaten Ward.
Power who trains at the TKO Gym under the watchful eyes of Johnny Eames is looking to put on a show to match the great fights over the years at the historic venue which is considered the home of British boxing.
Power said “I know Ward has sold a lot of tickets, but his supporters will be outnumbered by mine, I have no intention of giving up my title to a Northerner”
Power who is aiming for a shot at the European title before the end of year added, “I had a look at his record at it consists of wins over journeymen, who has he ever beaten to get a shot at the British title? I intend to finish this one in style inside the distance to give the fans something to talk about.”
“People have questioned my punching power” said Power who has seven stoppages in his eighteen wins.
“What they don’t realise is that I go more for accuracy than for power and this can be seen by the way my opponents are marked up by the end of the fights, I know I can stop Ward inside the distance”
