Van Sickle–Gomez ready for WBC CAC battle!

Chad Van Sickle will put his undefeated record on the line, along with this WBC America’s Cruiserweight Title, this Saturday night at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle at the Boat XXXIII against Gary Gomez. Van Sickle, who has sparred over 100 rounds for this fight looks the sharpest he ever has in training. His trainer, Mathis Hill, couldn’t be happier. “He is peaking at the perfect time”, Mathis said. “He is so sharp right now. We are extremely excited about this fight”. On July 30, 2004 in Van Sickle’s last fight, he beat Luke Munsen (17-3-0) in a brawl that was broadcast live on ESPN2 from the Emerald Queen Casino. That show turned out to be the highest rated ESPN2 boxing show in over two years. “Chad’s been with us for almost a year now”, said promoter Brian Halquist. “He has worked so hard and has come a long way in a short period of time. He has a first rate team in trainer Mathis Hill and conditioning coach David Grisaffi”. “Gomez called Van Sickle out on one of the boxing websites”, Halquist said. “We know that Gary is very game and a very tough kid, but what is that old adage, “beware of what you ask for’?” Halquist said.
