Busy Boxing April For DiBella Entertainment

ByBoxing Press 12/04/200612/04/2006

The Malignaggi-Cotto and Taylor-Wright championship mega fights in June are not the only DiBella Entertainment attractions on the horizon. The month of April promises to be a particularly busy month, with a trio of DBE main events set for the next two weeks.

Olympian Andre Berto (10-0, 8 KO’s) will make his ESPN2 Friday Night Fights debut this week on Friday, April 14th, when the Winter Haven, Florida native steps back into the ring against Horatio Garcia (14-6-1, 9 KO’s) at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, CA. Berto will be shooting for his 11th straight win as a pro in an eight round welterweight affair. Tickets are priced at $150 (Ringside), $80 (Floor), $50 (Lower Bleachers) and $35 (Upper Bleachers) and may be purchased at the Agua Caliente Casino Box Office located at 32-250 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270, or by calling 1-760-321-2000.

David Estrada and Kermit Cintron will square off on Wednesday April 19th in a 12 round IBF Welterweight #2 Position Eliminator at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, FL. The talented Estrada (18-2, 9 KO’S) returns to the ring nearly a year after losing a tough decision to “Sugar” Shane Mosley. The heavy hitting Cintron (25-1, 23 KO’s), is rated number five by the IBF, with his only loss coming against WBO Welterweight Champion Antonio Margarito. The fight will be aired on ESPN2 at 10:00PM ET/7:00 PM PT. Tickets are priced at $200, $100, $60, $40 and $20. To purchase, call 561-366-3481.

On Thursday night, April 20th, the ever-popular Broadway Boxing Presented by Turning Stone Resort & Casino returns to the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center with knockout artist Curtis “Showtime” Stevens (11-0, 10 KO’s) back in action. The card is headlined by an IBF Bantamweight Eliminator for the number one spot featuring Silence Mabuza (18-1, 15 KO’s) of South Africa against Ricardo Vargas (39-11-3, 13 KO’s) of Tijuana, Mexico in the main event. In the co-feature, Stevens steps up in class as he duels veteran Carl Daniels (49-7-1, 31 KO’s) in an eight round super middleweight contest.

The Brooklyn bomber Stevens has yet to disappoint the Big Apple fans, reeling off 11 straight victories while displaying a knockout punch unparalleled in his division. Fans of Broadway Boxing will also see Newark’s Jerson Ravelo (15-1, 10 KO’s) in his second fight back after a long layoff, against Donnell Wiggins (24-7-2, 14 KO’s) in another eight round super middleweight affair. The card will also feature New York City’s flashy Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (3-0, 3 KO’s) as well as Ireland’s hard hitting James Moore (5-0, 4 KO’s) in a junior middleweight six rounder. Super Middleweight Juan Cabrera (3-0, 2 KO’s) from Manhattan is also in action along with Irish cruiserweight Mark Clancy (4-0-1).

Tickets are priced at $150, $100, $80, $60 and $40, and are available by calling DiBella Entertainment at 212-947-2577. Broadway Boxing Presented by Turning Stone Resort and Casino will air on a later date on MSG Network in New York, Fox Sports Net New England, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago and in high definition on HDNet. • Chris Billam-Smith vs Ryan Rozicki 03/06/2026
Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. CBS became world champion when more talented British boxers like Okole and Riakporhe did not. In fact he beat both and forced them to go up to heavyweight. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]

What was the major factor for Usyk to perform so poorly against Rico? Rico better than expected, skilled kick boxer, huge size, awkward style, surprise element? Age of Usyk finally showing up? Jai Opetaia Says Boxing Rewards Talk More Than Skill This has long been a thought of mine, but of course it’s always refreshing when an actual boxer says it. Jai is obviously considered by most to be the top dog at cruiser, a division which unfortunately lacks the big names. Surely avoided by many. It could be speculated that at some point Jai could follow t […]
