Boxing Preview: Herman Ngoudjo – John Brown

Tonight at The Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec, Herman “Black Panther” Ngoudjo looks to make the third defense of his NABF Light Welterweight crown when he takes on 37 year old John Brown. A former four time world title challenger at super feather and lightweight, Brown, 23-12-2 (11), is well past his prime but as Damien Fuller found out a year ago, the “Eastern Beast” can still put on a good performance at times. Originally from Cameroon, Ngoudjo, 13-0 (9), decisioned Emmanuel Augustus a year ago in defense of his NABF crown and also won the WBC International title in the process.

A lively contest is expected with Brown drawing on his vast experience, picked up against such world champions as Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Diego Corrales, Jesus Chavez, Steve Forbes, Robbie Peden and Calvin Grove among others, to pressure Ngoudjo.

Despite being far less experienced than Brown, the reigning NABF kingpin does have many obvious advantages in this contest. He’s eleven years younger, taller, faster, more active, undefeated…the list goes on, but still the “Black Panther” will have to deal with Brown impressively if he is to keep on track for a world title shot.
