Hector Camacho Jr Keeps Busy In 2013, Added To Rochester Card

Light middleweight Hector Camacho Jr will look for his third consecutive win of 2013 as he continues to work his way towards earning a world title chance. On August 8 at the Frontier Stadium in Rochester, NY.

Since his loss last July, Camacho Jr. (56 5-1, 31 KO) has won two in concession by way of knock-outs, but more significantly than getting the ‘W’, Camacho Jr. has shown his reemergence as a viable force within the light middleweight division.

Inside and out of the ring Camacho Jr. has dealt with his share of difficulty over the past year; the untimely death of his legendary father has given him a new motivation to get to the top, and despite having recurring problems with fights falling through last minute, he has his eyes fixed on his aim…fighting for the belts.

Since the passing of his Dad last November, Camacho Jr. has been adamant about getting back on track in terms of taking his career more seriously and it has shown in his training and his performance in the ring.

About his upcoming bout August 8, promoted by Pretty Girl Promotions, Hector Camacho Jr. remarked, “I need that big fight; I know boxing has given me the chance a number of times but I have not take advantage of these.

“But I am more mature now, more focused, more determined and hungrier. I know this is my last chance, so I am in it 100%. I owe it to myself, my father, my island of Puerto Rico, my fans and my father’s fans. I want my title fight. How many fighters have a 56-5 record?

“Come August the 8th I am going to make the boxing world take notice that I am back and prepared, by making weight (154 lbs.) and looking good while performing. My aim is to make 147 which is in the long run. I have had two back to-back wins which took some of the rust off me.

“It has been awhile that I have been working the way I’m now. I can not wait to fight in Rochester. Plenty of great fighters past through Rochester; it has a rich history of boxing and I’m glad to be a part of it. I would also like to give a big thanks to Mercedes Vasquez Simmons, the CEO of Pretty Girl Promotions for giving me this chance; to have a female promoter in boxing is rare.

“So in this case we both—Pretty Girl Promotions and I—are looking forward to shining come the 8th August. We have both got something to prove!”

Through his 63-bout career Camacho Jr. has had his ups and downs, but the Puerto Rican fighter isn’t focusing on his past, but instead has tunnel vision on the present, and what he plans to make out of his future.

The slippery and crafty light middleweight southpaw has a reignited fire and drive within him that looks to continue to get stronger every day of training, and he’s unrelenting in fighting his way back to a competition fight.

Hector Camacho Jr. has the skills, tools and resources to be a world champion…now he has the drive and will to raise the hardware proudly over his head in honor of his father, and further cement the heritage the Camacho name has solidified in boxing history.

The road to world championship competition continued August 8 against an opponent yet to be named
