Kurt Walker, Michael McDonagh and James Hughes got Ireland off to a flying start at the 2013 European Youth Championships in the Netherlands today.
The Antrim, Waterford and Kildare trio beat Faris El Abassi (Netherlands), Tin Jankovic (Croatia) and Michal Urban (Slovakia) on unanimous and split decisions to book their tickets into the last-16 of the 38-nation tournament in Rotterdam.
“The boys have made a fantastic start to the tournament. Three wins out of three speaks for itself and we’re looking forward to tomorrow now,” said Irish team manager Mick Darby.
Jason McKay, Gary Cully, John Stokes and Conor Wallace will be in action tomorrow.
