Floyd Mayweather Saul Canelo Alvarez Boxing Preview Analysis: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez

In what could possibly be the most lucrative fight in the history of boxing, Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez puts his unbeaten record along with two world titles against Floyd Mayweather Jr Tonight.

Alvarez, from Jalisco, Mexico, is unbeaten in 42 fights with 30 KO’s. He has been a pro since 2005 and is unbelievably still only 23 years old. He is the current WBC and WBA light middleweight/super-welterweight champion.

Floyd Mayweather Jr, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, is unbeaten in 44 fights with 26 KO’s. In a staggering pro career which commenced in 1996, he has won world titles from 130 pounds to 154 pounds.

Mayweather, at 36, has done it all in boxing. If you break down his record in each of the divisions he has fought in, you could argue that no man has been ducked and he has defeated the best of each division over a 16 year period.

In Alvarez, he meets the man touted as one of boxing’s next superstars

So what happens this Saturday night?

Although the matchup is for a title, the bout is actually being made at 152 pounds. Although I don’t see this as a major factor in determining the outcome of the fight, I do however find it significant.

Canelo, I think, will try to start quickly and catch Mayweather off guard. Shane Mosley had success against Mayweather before Floyd reverted to Plan B.

Funnily enough, though I think Canelo,s fast start will suit Mayweather just fine. I feel Alvarez will have success early on but as the fight gradually wears on, he will find himself in Mayweather’s territory.

In a normal fighting environment, a 36 year old against a 23 year old would be viewed as Old v Young. Mayweather is no normal 36 year old and is in excellent physical condition, 365 days a year.

Unless Mayweather has dramatically aged since May, I think as the middle rounds wear on, Mayweather, who in my opinion is the better all round fighter of the two, will have worked Alvarez on his way to a Unanimous Decision win.

If Alvarez tires towards to the end, Mayweather may even stop him.

Either way, Floyd’s 0 doesn’t go.

Danny Garcia Lucas Matthysse Boxing Preview Analysis: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez

An excellent chief support bout sees Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse collide in a unification fight at Super Lightweight.

This fight ,on any other bill, would be a main event in its own right. It could also not only be fight of the night but also fight of the year.

Matthysse, with his power punching, is always dangerous,. Garcia, however seems to be at the peak of his powers and I feel although he may be hurt at some point he has enough boxing savvy and smarts to take a hard fought decision win.

I think this fight, though. will be the show stealer.
