Willie Donoghue is through to the 48kg final at the AIBA World Junior Championships in the Ukraine.

The St Michael’s Athy BC light-fly beat Jonathan Lopez on a unanimous decision in today’s semi-final in Kiev.

Donoghue, who is now guaranteed at least silver, will meet Daniel Gonzalez of the USA in Sunday’s, September 15th, 48kg final. Boxing begin at 12 noon (Irish time) tomorrow..

Kieran Molloy (Oughterard BC) and Sean Conroy (Ballyhaunis BC) had to settle for bronze after bowing out at the semi-final stage today following an injury and a split decision reversal.
