Bulgarian Bound Rabchenko Vows To Break Vitu

Sergey Rabchenko Vs Cedric Vitu

Sergey Rabchenko has no intention of leaving his rematch with Cedric Vitu in the hands of the judges.

Their first encounter, which came on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback clash with Vyacheslav Senchenko last year, ended with Rabchenko winning by a split decision.

This time, though, the Belarusian banger says there’ll be no room for debate as he intends on retaining his European light-middleweight title by scoring his 19th career stoppage.

“I’m not happy with the way I boxed Vitu last time and I won’t be making the same mistakes again. I had a very long training camp last year and Ricky Hatton wasn’t in my corner. This time I’m ready to show new skills. It’s a new fight and I’ll break him.

“I’ve had good sparring for this fight against top class southpaws like Junior Witter, a former world champion, I’m looking forward to getting another knockout.”

As well as being Europe’s leading 154 lb fighter, Rabchenko is ranked as the WBC’s number one challenger and also features in the top ten of the IBF and WBA, so a world title shot in 2014 is likely.

However, Sergey feels he’s not far away from challenging some of the pound-for-pound elite. “I think after two or three big fights I’ll be ready for people like Alvarez and Mayweather,” he stated.

Rabchenko v Vitu takes place in Vratsa, Bulgaria and is a staged by Hatton Promotions in association with World Sport Promotion.

The show will also feature the professional debut of exciting welterweight prospect Sonny Upton, the fourth paid outing of Belfast sensation Ryan Burnett and another chance to see Sheffield stars Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins face international opposition.
