It was a battle of undefeated fighters at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, Hollywood, Florida, USA as Irene Pacheco risked his IBF flyweight title against Australia-based Armenian Vic Darchinyan. And what a risk it turned out to be. A very competitive battle was fought between the two fighters until the eleventh round when Darchinyan finally took over, repeatedly putting the champion to the canvas with left hooks until the referee Jorge Alonso had seen enough and called a halt to the action. Darchinyan had fought exclusively in Australia up until last night but he proved that fighting overseas will not be a problem for him as he put and end to the more than five year reign Pacheco had enjoyed as the champion.
