Stivens Bujaj (11-0, 8 KOs) and Victor Barragan (12-7, 3 KOs), a fight that was just announced two days ago, added an intriguing twist today to the Battle at the Boat 95 main event going on this Saturday at the Emerald Queen Casino. The fight will now be fought for the vacant WBC United States Cruiserweight Title (USNBC).
The belt was previously held by Michael Seals (17-0, 13 KOs), who fought for the vacant title once in 2012 and has since gone down in weight to fight in the light heavyweight division leaving the title vacated once again.
Barragan has already had the title once in his stable, defeating former world champion, Arthur Williams (46-15-1, 30 KOs), via seventh round TKO in 2009 in a bout that some boxing enthusiasts considered to be a fight of the year candidate.
Bujaj, who has stated that he’ll be ready to take a shot at a top ten cruiserweight by the end of the year, will certainly get a huge boost with a victory this weekend over a very tough Victor Barragan.
Tickets for Battle at the Boat 95, scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA are still available and can be purchased at the EQC box office and online through Ticketmaster.
Doors open at 6 PM with the first fight scheduled for 7 PM. You must be 21 years or older to enter the casino.
