The 9th EUBC European Women’s Championships in Romania got underway in Bucharest earlier this afternoon.
Michaela Walsh and Olympic champion Katie Taylor will be the first Irish boxers in action tomorrow.
Taylor, who is aiming for her sixth successive European lightweight gold, meets Switzerland’s Sandra Brugger in a repeat of the 2007 European final tomorrow.
Joanna Lambe, Claire Grace and Ceire Smith are also with the five-strong Irish team in Bucharest.
The EUBC 2014 European Women’s Championships is also acting as a qualifier for the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the National U/18 Championships concluded at the National Stadium in Dublin today.
