Upton Clan Green And White Army Ready To Gatecrash London

The Upton Clan’s Green and White Army will be out in full force at York Hall, Bethnal Green, this Saturday night, October 11.

The fighting trio, who are trained by Ricky Hatton, rapidly sold their allocation of tickets for the Goodwin Promotions show and expect to receive a vociferous reaction at British boxing’s best loved venue.

Light-middleweight Pauly and welterweight Sonny are set to box as yet to be confirmed opponents over four rounds while youngest sibling, Anthony, will step up to six rounds against Bulgaria’s Radoslav Mitev.

“Normally we get people asking us for tickets on the last week or even on the day of the fight, but as all three of us are on the same bill, the tickets have just flown for this show,” said Pauly, 4-0. “Our dad is the one who should get the credit as he’s the one that deals with our sales. He gets people interested in coming to see us and that lets us concentrate on our training.

“We’ve just got to make sure we don’t let any of the fans down. It costs quite a lot of money to go to a boxing show and we appreciate every single ticket our fans buy. We have to repay them by boxing the best we can.”

Anthony, 5-0 (1 KO), said: “I think we’ve got the best fans in the world. People travelled to watch me and Sonny box in Belarus the other week and they’ve followed Sonny to places like Bulgaria and Lanzarote. When I had my last fight in London the noise was incredible. Even when I was warming up in the changing room I could hear the crowd shouting for me and that really got me fired up.”

For 25-year-old Sonny this weekend’s action is of particular importance. Not only will it see him box on the same card as his brothers for the first time since his amateur days, it will also be his UK debut. The welterweight prospect turned professional 11 months ago but has been collecting stamps in his passport with fights taking place across Europe as well as in his beloved Ireland.

“I can’t wait to get in there and show people what I can do at the home of boxing, York Hall,” he said. “It’s been good to fight in different countries, but nothing beats boxing at home and with my brothers being on the same bill I think it’s going to be a top night for us and the whole of the Upton Clan.”
