TG4 Wins Bidding To Televise National Stadium Tournaments

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association is delighted to announce that TG4 will broadcast the 2014 National U/22 Championship finals, the 2014 National Intermediate Championship finals and the 2015 National Elite Championship finals exclusively live from the National Stadium in Dublin.

The National U/22 Championship finals will be decided on October 24, followed by the National Intermediate Championship finals on December 5.

The 2015 National Elite Championship finals will be decided on January 23 at the National Stadium, the home of Irish boxing.

All finals at all three Championships will be broadcast live. Moreover, a programme of 60 minutes duration of the three finals nights will be broadcast on TG4 a week after each tournament.

TG4 will also broadcast the semi-finals and finals of the AIBA World Women’s Championships live from Jeju, Korea next month.

Current Olympic, World, European, EU and Irish lightweight champion Katie Taylor will be aiming for an historic fifth successive AIBA World 60kg title at the eighth edition of tournament at the Halla Gymnasium in Jeju between November 13 and 25.

Taylor has been named on a four-strong Irish squad, along with with Claire Grace, Joanne Lambe and Michaela Walsh for Korea.

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association would like to go on record thanking RTE and Setanta for their strong broadcasting bids for the National U/22, National Intermediate and National Elite Championships.
