Scot Sean Watson Returns For Historic Hometown Bout

Prospect Boxing today confirmed their first show in 2015 at the Fauldhouse Miners Welfare, in Fauldhouse, Scotland, where local fighter Sean Watson will return to action for the first time since August 2013, when he picked up a points win over James Ancliffe.

The card also marks the return for Edinburgh’s Lee Redpath, while Livingston’s Martin Taylor is also pencilled in to make his professional debut.

Speaking about his first card of the year, Promotor Paul Graham is excited to have secured the venue “Over the years, there has been a bit of talk about a professional show at the Fauldhouse Miners Welfare, but nothing has ever materialised. So I am glad to be given the town a chance to see professional boxing.

A local lad as well, Graham goes on to add that the town has had its fair share of talent over the decades. “Fauldhouse has produced some fine boxers over the years. We had Johnny Smillie, who lost to Peter Keenan for the British Title as well as John Fisher, who was a top amateur, and more recently Colin McNeil and Sean Watson, so it will be good to finally give something back the local community.

“This will be the first time Sean Watson has fought in about 18 months, he didn’t get out last year due to work commitments and injury, it was frustrating for him as he is looking to really make waves in the Super Featherweight division, and if he can pick up the British Masters Belt that is on offer on the 27th February then that will be the best start possible for him this year.

“I am expecting a sell out at the venue, it has a cracking set up and has been used for amateur bouts in the past, so it will be good to see it packed. We have a buffet on the night, aswell as a licensed bar and a comedian, so there will be a lot on offer on the night to everyone.”
