Boxing Info: Mia St. John-Jaime Clampitt

ByBoxing Press 20/01/2007

One of boxing’s most recognizable females, Mia “The Knockout” St. John, will fight in New England for the first time on February 9 when she defends her IFBA lightweight title against two-time world champion Jaime “The Hurricane” Clampitt in the 10-round main event on the “Hearts Of Fire” pro-am show at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. (CES), in association with Lincoln Park, is promoting the “Hearts Of Fire” pro-am show, which will be taped live and air February 10 (7:00-(00 PM/ET and Feb. 17 (12:00-2:00 PM/ET) on CN8, The Comcast Network. CN8 reaches 9 million homes in 12 states and 20 television markets. The event will also air on the Cox Network at dates and times to be determined.

“Fights fans have been waiting years for this fight,” CES president Jimmy Burchfield said, “and we’re excited to be promoting ‘Hearts Of Fire.’ People all over the world know Mia. Jaime is a crowd favorite who has been in a few of the greatest all-time women’s fights. It’s rare for women to headline a show but this is the second we’ve promoted a women’s world title fight in Rhode Island with Jaime on top. We’re also going to be unleashing some new talent on this show.”

“Hearts Of Fire” is dedicated to the memory of Enrique Palau, the unbeaten boxer who was killed last month in a car accident. Donations will be collected for Palau’s family.

A donation of $2.00 per each sold ticket will be donated to the Gloria Gamma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and the main event fighters will show their support by wearing pink gloves.
