Clark Expects Team Hatton’s Hammond To Hammer Tasci

ByHatton Promotions 22/07/2015

Manager Matt Clark expects Cameron Hammond to turn on the style when he faces Sedat Tasci in a battle of former Olympians next weekend.

Hammond defends his WBA Oceania welterweight crown against the teak tough Turk on David “Spike” Syphers’ show at the Crossing Theatre in Narrabri, New South Wales, and Clark believes the Moree favourite will once again underline his potential for the top.

Tasci is by far Hammond’s best opponent to date. Now boxing out of Sydney, the 30-year-old represented Turkey at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and has only lost once in an eight year pro career.

“Without a doubt Sedat Tasci represents the toughest challenge Cameron has faced as a professional,” Clark said. “Tasci is a rough, tough brawler who had a very distinguished amateur career himself. His sole loss was for the Australian title and it was as a result of a head clash and he was only slightly behind on the cards at the time.

“Ricky Hatton has identified Cameron as a potential world champion and “The Hammer” needs to overcome tests like this to reach that potential.
“Cameron has knocked his last two opponents out. He’s settling into the welterweight division now and he’s realising that he’s a big strong welter. I’d love to see him continue that aggression and make a statement against Tasci.

“I’m also really hoping Cameron’s faithful support will make the journey to Narrabri to support him as he’ll need every bit of it.”

Cameron, himself an Olympic boxer at London 2012, has barely dropped a round since turning professional with Hatton Promotions and feels his recent move up in weight suits him best.

“I’m still learning my craft as a professional, but this will be my fourth fight at welterweight and I feel like I’m starting to establish myself there,” said the 25-year-old.

“I’d like to thank Ricky for the support he’s shown me so far in my career. I couldn’t be happier with how things are going right now. I’d also like to thank Spike for putting me on his card, it’s an honour to headline the show and I’m sure plenty of my supporters will make the journey to Narrabri.”

Spike Syphers added: “I want to say a big thank you to Hatton Promotions for allowing Cameron to box on our card. It’s not every day a guy who is ranked number 13 in the world will box in Narrabri.

“Tasci will give Cameron a real fight. I’ve been told Tasci is in tremendous shape and he knows that this fight can open up a lot of doors for his career. We’re expecting a huge crowd on the night and we are advising people to get their tickets early to avoid any potential disappointment.”

Next Saturday’s card features five professional fights and tickets can be purchased from the venue on (02) 6792 4654 or BOXOFFICE@CROSSINGTHEATRE.COM.AU.
