Rugby Standout Shaunagh Browne Set For Pro Debut

Shaunagh Brown

Plucked off a rugby pitch as recently as 25th July by boxing promoter Mark Lyons, Shaunagh Brown debuts on the Wiseguys pro boxing bill at the famous York Hall in London on 29th August.

Trained by Mark Reefer, a former Commonwealth super featherweight titlist at the Champions Gym in Hackney, 25 year old Brown is no stranger to competition and no stranger to life.

She’s represented GB in discus and hammer in the Commonwealth Games. Amongst the jobs she held down whilst training as an athlete, was a period as a gas fitter for British Gas. Brown will need all that life experience to navigate through the minefield that is pro boxing.

Luckily for her though, she seems to have acquired a solid team around her from word go. Always a good sign.

Weighing in at 88kg, Peckham born Brown is poised to hit the ground running at cruiserweight but opponents could be a long term problem.

Said Lyons, “Eddie Montalvo [the noted American matchmaker] told me last week there’s literally no one at cruiserweight in the USA to fight Shaunagh. Heavyweight is where it’s at, with 13 Yanks in the world top 15.

“So Shaunagh will be fighting the big guns at heavyweight down the line. With Ronda Rousey achieving so much in MMA for women’s combat, the opportunity is there like never before for a dominant female boxing champion.”

The Wise Guys Promotions’ event “Lords Of The Ring LL” will take place at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 29th August 2015.

This event is sanctioned courtesy of the Malta Boxing Commission (MBC) www.maltaboxingcommission.com

Tickets, priced £35 (standard seated) and £65 (Ringside) are available from any of the boxers taking part, on-line atwww.tkoboxoffice.com and www.wiseguypromotions.com or call 07960 850645 or 07807 282559.
