Boxing Round By Round: Jorge Arce – Julio Ler

This past Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, Jorge Arce won his second consecutive WBC final eliminator and solidified his position as best super flyweight in the world with a dominating twelve round decision over Julio Ler. The action is presented here in an exclusive SaddoBoxing round by round.

Round one: After making a ring entrance on the back of a horse, Jorge Arce starts off the first round against Julio Ler with a few good stiff jabs. Arce walks Ler down with jabs and power punches and begins to land some combos as he backs Ler into the ropes. Ler attempts to counter but is missing everything. Arce gets in some hard body shots as Ler leans against the ropes. 10-9 Arce.

Round two: Arce starts the second frame by going to the body again. Ler threw a grand total of 14 punches in the first round and Arce bangs him as Ler just covers up against the ropes. Arce lands another hard left hook before Ler lands a good left, the first solid shot that he has landed tonight. Arce once against bangs his opponent’s body against the ropes and Ler tells him to bring it on, but he gets on his bike and just runs. Both fighters are now trash talking to each other as they try to fight against the ropes. 20-18 Arce.

Round three: Arce begins the third jabbing and now traps Ler on the ropes and begins to batter him with more hard shots. Ler lands a counter right, but Arce is now chasing him around the ring. Body damage by Arce then a clash of heads. Arce landing more bombs against the ropes while Ler has nothing in his shots. Arce 30-27.

Round four: Arce’s jab is now pushing Ler’s head back. Arce scores with an eight punch combo against the ropes and Ler is doing nothing to counter at all. It’s almost target practice for Arce as Ler is not doing anything but blocking shots. Arce keeps trapping Ler on the ropes and throwing combos, Ler is doing little to counter. Ler to the body before missing a left but then scores with a combo. Arce gets in some hard punches against the ropes before Ler lands some counters. In four rounds, Ler had only landed 17 punches in total. Arce 40-36.

Round five: Arce chases Ler and lands punches against the ropes. Arce throws and lands some heavy shots while Ler tries to counter more often now. Arce taunts Ler to fight and Ler responds by landing a good three punch combo. Ler taunts Arce back and cracks him with a right. Arce misses and then Ler lands a combo over Arce’s lazy jab. Ler with another combo counter and takes the round. Arce 49-46.

Round six: Ler is now countering over Arce’s punches. Arce combos off the ropes but Ler counters with a right. Arce backs Ler to the ropes, but Ler is now countering and landing well. Arce pounding shots to the head and body as he gets Ler against the ropes but Ler fights back with a double left hook. Both men dance to taunt each other. Arce appears to be a bit tired as Ler is coming on in this fight. Arce wins a close round. Arce 59-55.

Round seven: Arce lands punches in bunches against the ropes. Hard right hand by Ler before Arce lands some light punches. Arce lands another eight punch combo with Ler on the ropes, but the punches are not clean. Arce lands multiple flurries and gets the fans on their feet. Arce 69-64.

Round eight: Arce chases Ler around the ring, looking to land something big. Arce hits Ler against the ropes as Ler tries to counter. Ler has rope marks on his back from backing up against them so much, trying to make Arce punch himself out, but Arce keeps on throwing. Arce again taunts Ler to fight and throws more punches in bunches as he traps Ler against the ropes, daring him to counter. Round scored for Ler. Ler 78-74.

Round nine: Arce is doing the same old dance by backing Ler against the ropes and throwing punches while Ler barely throws back. Ler throws a three punch combo, Arce responds with a left hook before Ler scores with another combo. Ler now begins to throw punches and gets Arce against the ropes, landing some punches. Arce then gets Ler back against the ropes and throws punches to the body. Arce jabbing and following with combos. Arce 88-83.

Round ten: Ler keeps backing up and Arce keeps throwing punches. Ler charges Arce against the ropes and lands some shots. Ler goes after Arce, again against the ropes. Ler trying to throw more punches now, but Arce counters well and sticking the jab. Combo by Arce, left hand by Ler. Arce 98-92.

Round eleven: Ler with a right hand while Arce sticks him with the jab. Arce lands combos against the ropes and then nails Ler with another three punch combo. Arce follows this with a six punch combo against the ropes. Arce taunts Ler some more but Ler not complying. Arce lands a huge counter that has Ler in trouble and Arce goes after him against the ropes as Ler tries to fight his way off. Ler moving from one side of the ring to the other, Arce follows and lands punches. Ler is claiming he was hit low and stumbles to another corner of the ring. The ref gives him time to recover. Arce 108-101.

Round twelve: Arce throwing everything now as he wants to finish off Ler in the final round. Arce landing hard to the head and body as Ler is just trying to survive the round. Ler misses some counters. Arce with some more combos against the ropes. Ler survives. Arce gets the final round and easily wins the fight, 118-110 on the Saddoboxing card.

The official scores are 117-109, 117-110 and 117-110, all for Arce.
