Irish Hit Squad Lands In Qatar Ready For Tournament Action

Ireland’s seven-strong amateur boxing squad arrived in Doha, Qatar from their training camp in Assisi, Italy this afternoon ahead of opening bell for the AIBA World Elite Men’s Championships and Olympic qualifiers.

Boxing at the 18th edition of the tournament begins in Doha next Tuesday.

Current European Elite and European Games champions Michael Conlan, Joe Ward and Michael O’Reilly and Brendan Irvine, Sean McComb, Dean Walsh and Adam Nolan will represent Ireland on the Arabian peninsula.

London 2012 bronze medallist Michael Conlan will captain the Irish squad.
