British Olympian Andrew Selby Lines Up Second Pro Fight

Hennessy Sports and Sanigar Events are pleased to announce that Andrew Selby, one of Great Britain’s most decorated amateur boxers, will compete in his second professional fight on November 14 at Bristol’s City Academy.

The talented 26-year-old, younger brother of IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby, is a two-time European amateur champion and winner of bronze and silver medals at the World Amateur Championships. He also progressed to the quarter-final of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, losing to eventual gold medallist Robeisy Ramirez Carranza of Cuba.

The Barry-native turned professional on October 30 with a fourth-round stoppage win over Haji Juma in Newport, Wales, and will look to make it two from two in a scheduled eight-rounder on November 14.

“We’re delighted to have Andrew appear on our show in Bristol,” said promoter Mick Hennessy. “He’s one of the very best talents in Britain right now and we have every confidence he can go on to emulate his brother, Lee, in winning a world title.

“It’s a mark of Andrew’s confidence and ability that he is already looking to compete at eight-round level and test himself against very good opposition. He knows he’s above building his record against journeymen and he’s going to waste no time climbing up the rankings.”
