Ferndale’s Barrie Jones will defend his Welsh Light Middleweight title against the experienced Bradley Pryce at the Newport Centre on Saturday 6th February. The contest will be the chief support to Craig ‘The Kid’ Kennedy’s final eliminator for the British Title against London’s Tony Conquest.
Jones is on a good run of form having recaptured the Welsh title with a TKO victory over Jerome Samuels in March 2015 and defending it with another stoppage win over game challenger James Lilley of Swansea in October.
Pryce however will not be intimidated having mixed at a high level including fights against Frankie Gavin, Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jnr. The former Welsh and Commonwealth champion brings with him the experience of over 55 fights and will want to recapture the Welsh title in front of an all Welsh crowd.
Britain’s most sensational prospect Andrew Selby will also feature on the card after securing two out of three stoppage victories since turning professional in October 2015. The British Boxing Board of Control have ordered Andrew to fight in a final elimator contest for the British Flyweight Title against Scotland’s Iain Butcher.
Jamie Arthur will make his second appearance in the ring since returning from a three year lay off. Last time out we saw a new look Arthur employ a slick style to outbox Croatian Antonio Horvatic. Another good win in February will put him back where he belongs, challenging for domestic titles in 2016.
Unbeaten prospect Tony Dixon steps up in class to fight Irishman Dean Byrne who could provide the man from Mountain Ash with the stiffest test of his career so far. Former amateur star Morgan Jones will once again look to impress fans and extend his four fight unbeaten record.
Light heavyweight duo Nathan Thorley and Jermaine Asare will also want to keep their unbeaten records in tact. Both boxers won bronze medals at the Glasgow and Delhi Commonwealth games respectively and are now three fights unbeaten as professionals.
Sanigar Events are proud to announce that welterweight Southpaw Sonny Lee will make his professional debut after a successful Welsh amateur career.
