“Hayemaker” Will Step Up To Heavyweight!
Reigning European Cruiserweight Champion David Haye has announced that he will jump up to heavyweight for his next bout, scheduled to take place on Friday, April 27 at London’s newly reconstructed Wembley Arena.
Although Haye, 18-1 (17), has fought over 200 lb before, against Valery Semishkur in 2004 and Garry Delaney in 2005, this bout will be against a far more dangerous opponent in the form of 33 year old Polish fighter, Tomasz Bonin.
Warsaw based Bonin, 37-1 (20), is a career heavyweight who has routinely faced opponents weighing in at over 230 lb.
As Haye had a good deal of difficulty in stopping his most recent opponent, 5 foot 9 inch tall, 200 lb Italian cruiserweight Giacobbe Fragomeni, this bout should provide the London man with a snapshot on his ability to fulfill his quest to compete as a heavyweight in the future.
Bonin is chiefly known to British fans as giving 252 lb Audley Harrison all he could handle for nine rounds in 2004.
