Last night one of the top domestic welterweights in the Ukraine was in action and Vyacheslav Senchenko did not disappoint the packed house in Donetsk. The 29 year old poured it on in the sixth round and knocked opponent Andrei “Bazooka” Yeskin spark out in a hailstorm of leather.
On offer was Senchenko’s EBU-EE belt and going into the bout there was some speculation that the heavy handed Kazak man Yeskin, the reigning WBO Asia Pacific titlist would be the first to top the local hero, a theory that Senchenko, 21-0 (15), stamped out with brutal authority. Spoiler Yeskin drops to 15-5 (11).
Also on bill, there were two more EBU-EE title contests and defending light welter beltholder Vladimir Kravets, 12-0 (5), slugged out journeyman Vadzim Astapuk, 8-12-1 (2), in the second round while lightweight Andrei Kudriavtsev, 23-3 (10), annexed the vacant lightweight crown with a dominating points victory over iron chinned but punchless Belarus man Yauhen Kruhlik, 5-8-2 (0).
