Hard-hitting Welshman Gary Lockett now has the British Middleweight title in his sights after his fight against Allan Gray on 21 January at the Bridgend Leisure Centre has been billed as an Official Eliminator. The twenty-eight-year-old from Cwmbran is delighted with the news and is expecting a tough fight against Gray who is the current Southern Area champion. “This is a great start to 2005 and I hope that things will take off for me this year,” said the Rocket Man who has sixteen knockouts in twenty-four fights. “The British title is the one that all boxers dream of winning and I certainly want to have one in my trophy cabinet. I’m within touching distance of challenging for it but I’ve got to get Gray out of the way first, some people will see it as a formality for me to knock him out as I’ve got the punching power but I’m expecting a hard fight against him.
“He’s a tough lad with lots of experience and I’m not underestimating him. If the knockout comes – great,” Last year saw Lockett back to his explosive best when he ended his three fights inside five rounds. “I will be looking to continue that form this year and I am confident I can mix it with the best in the domestic middleweight scene.” He finished. Swansea puncher Enzo Maccarinelli headlines the show ‘Danger: Explosive Material!’ with the fourth defence of his WBU World Cruiserweight title against the American Rich LaMontagne.
