Mohegan Sun Present Battle Zone Boxing On May 4 With Undefeated Mike Oliver

Mohegan Sun, in association with Alpha Omega Entertainment Group, presents Battle Zone Boxing at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, May 4th featuring Hartford’s undefeated USBA Junior Featherweight Champion Mike Oliver (18-0, 7 KO’s) in the main event.

Meanwhile, in the co-feature attraction, Rodney Toney (29-4-4, 17 KO’s) from Boston battles Anthony Russell (15-2-1, 4 KO’s) from Brockton, Massachusetts in a 10-round bout. The boxing card begins at 7:30pm, and will be televised on NESN.

Tickets are on sale now for $75.00, $40.00 and $25.00 and are available through the Mohegan Sun Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet.

The undercard is highlighted by Hartford’s undefeated heavyweight Tony Grano (8-0-1, 7 KO’s) along with Dat Nguyen (8-0, 5 KO’s) from Vero Beach, Florida, and Anthony LaMonica (3-0, 2 KO’s) and Irish Billy Walsh (3-0) both from Boston.

In addition, Chris McInerney (7-0-1, 4 KO’s) from Stoughton, Massachusetts will battle Boston police officer Tyrone Smith (5-4-1, 2 KO’s) in a 4-round cruiserweight bout.

At 122 pounds, Oliver is an up-an-coming Junior Featherweight contender. Since turning pro in September of 2001, the 5-foot-6 southpaw has been battling through the competition in eye-popping fashion, and is poised for a world title fight.

In his last fight at Mohegan Sun in October 2006, he went the distance against California’s Adam Carrera to win the vacant USBA Junior Featherweight title by unanimous decision.
