A NIGHT TO REMEMBER FOREVER MORE!
Bedford sports fans give thanks to David Walker of WBCME, who has scooped the nation by securing the No.1 boxer in the UK, the fabulous Joe Calzaghe, to come to the Park Hotel in Bedford, England on the night of 27th April and in a personal appearance, speak about his 10 year reign as one of the greatest ever British boxers on behalf of Keech House, a charity that cares for terminally ill children.
Joe is presently the UK’s hottest star in a sport where there no certainties as one punch can win or lose a contest, and it was a high risk gamble to take by the organiser of the event, local man David Walker, who is also underwriting the cost of this main event, to book Joe before he defended his title against the hot shot star of the American TV series “The Contender’, Peter Manfredo.
David said, “Yes, it was a gamble because nothing is certain in boxing. I was very confident Joe, a truly Hall of Fame World champion would win and when you assist a great cause for the right reasons, things tend to work out well.”
The stories Joe will relate covers his history making 20 defences of the World Boxing Organisation World title – and it does not end there.
Joe will be accompanied by his father Enzo Calzaghe, one of the top trainers/coaches in the world, and other iconic boxers including John H. Stracey and Richie Woodhall, both of whom won coveted World Boxing Council world championships in their careers.
John H. Stracey went to Monumental Plaza, in Mexico City to challenge and beat the then regarded as unbeatable WBC World champion, Jose Angel Napoles (147 79-6-0), in his own backyard and came home with the world championship.
Olympic medallist Richie Woodhall had an outstanding career culminating in winning the prestigious WBC World super middleweight championship, and is now BBC’s expert colour commentator, a fitness guru and boxing coach.
Both of these legendary heroes will have enthralling personal stories to relate from their journeys on the rocky road of boxing that led them to the pinnacle of the most demanding of all sports.
This once-in-lifetime opportunity will be a night to remember forever more for those present, who will have the priveldge of being able to repeat the stories told on this special evening to eager listeners.
If this isn’t sufficient cause to be part of an historical night, a great charity will benefit from every penny raised; Bedford’s own Keech House, which dutifully cares for children with terminal illness.
The work by the dedicated staff at this pain and suffering resting place is a lesson to us all. Sadly, Keech House has to refuse heartrending cases due to lack of funds and desperately needs money. It needs your help.
For this Special Night of Nights, where a haute cuisine five course dinner will be served, all the Platinum tables are sold. However, there are still a few Gold and Silver tables available.
Following upon the great win by Joe Calzaghe over Peter Manfredo, which was watched by 35,00 ticket buyers at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff and millions on ITV, the House Full notice is certain to be posted outside the Park Inn Bedford on the night .To ensure fairness, a first come, first served policy will be observed.
A GREAT CAUSE, A GREAT NIGHT OUT – WILL YOU BE ABLE TO TELL YOUR GRANDCHILDREN, “YES, I WAS THERE?”
