DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series hosted their latest installment last Wednesday night at the Manhattan Center in New York City. Local junior featherweight Gary Stark, Jr was looking to make a statement in the main event against journeymen Andres Ledesma after his controversial loss to Mike Oliver in February.

Stark, Jr came out strong in the early rounds using quick hand speed. In the third round, he knocked Ledesma down to one knee and the Colombian was given an eight count into the end of the round.

Stark Jr came out in the fourth looking to deliver a knockout punch but was not able to land anything of significance.

The fifth round began much like the fourth with Stark, Jr looking for the knockout punch that would close the show.

Ledesma, who had been throwing looping shots to this point, was able to connect with a right that landed flush across Stark, Jr’s chin and the New Yorker was out before his head hit the canvas.

The referee made it only to a count of six before he waved the fight off and called for the ringside physician.

Several minutes passed before Stark, Jr was able to stand and be helped onto a stool. After only a few minutes on the stoo,l he left the ring abruptly not allowing the ringside physician to examine him or be interviewed by the media.

Ledesma’s record improves to 14-5 (9) while Stark Jr drops to 18-2 (8).

On the undercard, middleweight James “Buddy” McGirt, Jr won a unanimous decision, improving to 15-0 (8), against Brad Austin who falls to 8-3 (5).

McGirt, Jr dominated the fight knocking down Austin in the fourth and eighth rounds. Although Austin seemed out on his feet during a few moments in the fight, he came back strong and was still willing to exchange punches against the superior McGirt, Jr.

Lightweight sensation Jorge Teron continued his unbeaten record to 16-0 (10) with a TKO victory against Jovann Jones, who dropped to 9-4 (4).

Teron started off a little slow and suffered a bloody nose in the first round. He came back strong in the second round and dominated the rest of the fight using his reach advantage to work on the outside.

The referee called off the fight at 2:54 of the fifth round.
