European Boxing News: Edison Miranda, Arthur Abraham, Amin Asikainen, Sebastian Sylvester

Hamburger Abendblatt wrote on May 21 that one of the persons injured during Saturday´s brawl at the Color Line Arena right before Lukasik vs Hartmann was to begin will be blinded in one eye.

The Hamburger Abendblatt journalists that had seats right in front of where the feud started also writes that there were provocations on both sides all through the evening but what took place once the fighting outside of the ropes began was a blatant assault as the seven supersized security men punched and kicked at the Arena people.

Edison Miranda´s loss to Kelly Pavlik in a WBC 160 lb eliminator this past weekend will have big consequenses on this side of the pond as well. Miranda was mandatory challenger for IBF champ Arthur Abraham but will now lose that position. The number two spot in the IBF ratings is empty, # 3 Ronald Wright is occupied elsewhere which means that Finland´s Amin Asikainen will get to the # 1 position.

Asikainen is still all set to defend the European title June 23 in Zwickau against Sebastian Sylvester but it´s a likely scenario that he relinquish the title with Sylvester fighting the highest available challenger for the vacant European crown and Asikainen challenging Abraham sometime in August. King Arthur must of course get past Sebastian Demers on Saturday in Bamberg.

European Union light heavy champ Antonio Brancalion will defend the title June 28 in Ustecky Raj in the Czech Republic against Tomas Adamek, the Czech fighter – not to be confused with the Polish ex-WBC ruler.

Spanish junior middle Jaume Pons headline a Gallego Prada promotion May 25 in Hospitalet de Llobregat. Pons put up a great performance in losing to European Union champ Christophe Canclaux last time out.

WIBF, GBU and WBA super middle champ Natascha Ragosina defends her titles against Dakota Stone May 25 in Stuttgart on Spotlight Boxing´s promotion.
