The “Universum Champions Night” returns to Dusseldorf, Germany on June 2 with world female flyweight champion Regina Halmich (52-1-1, 16 KOs) headlining at the Burg-Wächter Castello.
The women’s boxing icon plans to conclude her long and successful career this year. Following her highly rated exhibition match against television entertainer Stefan Raab, Halmich’s next fight could draw upwards of 10 million viewers.
“Nice that the date and place for my next title defense are now certain,” says Halmich. “I’m glad to be doing proper boxing again. With me, Dusseldorf has very good memories. One year ago, at the same place I defeated the Hungarian Milo.
“In February, the enthusiastic Dusseldorf fans pushed my stablemate Julia Sahin in an inspiring fight for the world championship. Also our light heavyweight world champion Zsolt Erdei was acclaimed magnificently in the Burg-Wächter Castello, so I am especially glad that I can have one of my last fights in front of this audience.”
