WBO Boxing Showdown Between Shannon Briggs And Sultan Ibragimov Ready To Catch Fire

The final press conference between WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs and challenger Sultan Ibragimov is due to take place this coming Wednesday in New York. Given the bad feeling that has been brewing between the two, the media in attendance could be in for some early fireworks as the countdown for their world title clash on June 2 at Boradwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

35 year old veteran Briggs, 48-4 (42), will be making the first defense of the WBO title that he won by knocking out Serguei Lyakhovich in literally the final seconds of their bout this past November.

It was the culmination of a long, hard fight back into title contention for Briggs, who had been knocked out by WBC Champion Lennox Lewis in 1998 .

Although 32 years of age, this will be the first walk in the spotlight for southpaw Ibragimov, a former WBO Asia Pacific Heavyweight titlist from Rostov-on-Don, Russia, who brings a 20-0-1 (17) record to the table.

Briggs vs. Ibragimov, a 12 round WBO Heavyweight Championship bout, is presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions in association with Caesars Atlantic City, Golden Grain, Nafta Moskva, CSI Sports, Global Advertising Strategies and Main Events.

Tickets are priced at $300, $200, $150, $100 and $50, and can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
