WBA World Championship Boxing Eliminator – June 8th

ByBoxing Press 30/05/2007

Undercard Stacked with Local Talent- White, Holmes & Moore

May 30, 2007 (Merrillville, IN)- Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc., has announced
a stacked undercard of local standouts stepping up the competition for the June 8th “Warriors” boxing event from The Hudson-Campbell Sports Center in Gary, IN. Presented by One In A Million Inc. and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated in association with the City of Gary, “Solo Boxeo” will be televised live on Telefutura from 7-9 pm. to more than 42 US markets and 70 foreign countries.

Topping the undercard, Gary native and IN.B.A. State Welterweight Champion Jermaine “Too Sweet” White (15-2, 7 KOs) will face Derrick Campos (11-3, 8 KOs) of Topeka, KS in a 6-round light welterweight bout. Last September, Campos lost a controversial majority decision (38-36 twice and 37-37) to highly touted Jorge Paez Jr., son of the Mexican legend, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Since then, Campos has been on a 5-fight win streak.

Two undefeated middleweights fight for Indiana state bragging rights on the “Warriors” card when DeMotte’s Jimmy “The Fighting School Teacher” Holmes (15-0-2, 8 KOs) faces Travis “The Hitman” Loveless (10-0, 9 KOS) of Frankfort, IN. In addition to his 90% knock out ratio, Loveless brings an extensive amateur record to the ring.

Another Gary native, “Dangerous” Don Moore (11-0-1, 9 KOs) looks to impress his hometown fans against an opponent to be named next week. Moore, a super featherweight, returns to the ring after scoring a dramatic first round knock out over Pedro Flores on April 20th in Merrillville, IN.

In addition, undefeated Jimmy Campbell (9-0, 6 KOs) of Indianapolis faces Gene Newton (4-1, 1 KO) of Loganville, WI.

In the evening’s main event, NABF Champion Giovanni Segura (17-0-1, 13 KOs) faces former IBF minimum weight world champion Daniel Reyes (38-4-1, 30 KOs) of Cartagena, Colombia in a 12-round WBA light flyweight world championship eliminator.

In the co-main event, top welterweight prospect, Mike Alvarado (16-0, 10 KOs) faces veteran Francisco Campos (20-9-1, 11 KOs) and, making her television debut, Gary’s “Merciless” Mary McGee (9-0, 5 KOs) faces Eva Lidia Silva (4-7) of Ciudad Acuña, Mexico in a 6 round lightweight bout

Conveniently located less than 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, the Hudson-Campbell Sports Center, 455 Massachusetts Street, is just one block from the Gary Rail Cats Steelyard Baseball Stadium. • Kugan Should Retire! 16/09/2026
He’s Eddies mate and I know they’ve been doing interviews since before either of them really had a profile…but Eddie still gives Kugan wayyyyy too much latitude in the interviews that Hearn needs to resonate with the public. Kugan constantly cuts across him, with some meaningless aside, or to tries to get a rubbish ‘gotcha’, for no reason. There are better i […]

  • Ain't we all want to see Jai v David? 14/09/2026
Don’t we? Let’s cut all of the bullshit here. This is the only fight worth a $100 PPV buy, it’s Jai Opetai v David Benavidez. Canelo is in the background now. He is not worthy of paying any attention to at this point and time. Plus, since Crawford is retired, he is not worth mentioning either, even if he comes back to fight Boots… There is no other fight on […]
  • Where does Conor Benn go from here? 14/09/2026
Conor Benn has been exposed as a no better than a Misfit fighter. He has just been destroyed in 2 rounds for an undeserved Welterweight world title. His best win is against a faded if not shot Eubank Jnr at middleweight. So where does Conor go from here? Conor has already managed to secure a multimillion contract from Zuffa which may be in jeopardy. As a res […]

I did it. Ran a half marathon in training last week Sunday. I did it in 3 hours, but I did it… lolol… I could do it in 2 and 1/2 hours though. For the first time, I walked a good bit of the distance… And the shoes I had on was not good for long distances. So, I started to get pains in my ankles, Achilles and ACL… But with the right shoes I can def do that in […]

  • Hrgovic's career path 05/09/2026
Hrgovic has finally made it to the mountain as IBF world champion. He has himself to blame for not training hard enough or working on his conditioning, and his management team for failing to get him a title shot sooner. I get it. He wasn’t born with boxing’s golden ticket — he isn’t American or British. His only loss came on a night when a dirty Dubois had h […]
