This is the first of four Friday Night Fight Cards that will be promoted by Red Corner Promotions in conjunction with the Broncos Leagues Club in 2005.
Mick Shaw is the current number five lightweight in the Australian ratings but his record shows he could be the Champion having defeated Allan Luxford convincingly in their recent bout. Mick is looking above and beyond those few remaining lightweights left in the division he is yet to face and is hoping for regional or perhaps World rated success. There is not a lightweight in Australia that Mick Shaw will not fight.
Alex Leapai returns to the scene of his first and most memorable fight so far. This time he hopes to comes away with more than a draw when he faces New Zealand Heavyweight Vai Toevai. Toevai has a similar record to Leapai having wins draws and some losses. Both fighters have only one way of fighting and that is all out attack. This will be awesome while it lasts!
Kina Malpartida takes on Mirelle Walford from Melbourne in her first fight under the Red Corner Promotional banner. Kina has signed on with Red Corner Promotions and it is expected that she will fight either in Japan or the USA within the next six months. Talent wise Kina is the hottest female fighter in Australia with her record standing at 4 fights 4 wins 1 ko. There is only one place where she will stop and that is on top of the women’s boxing mountain.
In the amateur section of the fight card local fighters from Logan Boxing Club fill most of the card. The Logan Boxing Club won both trophies on offer for the QABAI last year by collecting the most wins and also the most state champions.
Glamour Boy Nathan Di Carlo is taking a huge step up to fight out of his weight class against Melbourne’s Casey Thomson. Nathan is taking this fight for the experience and to challenge himself to rise above the adversity of the weight difference. Trent Broadhurst “the baddest amateur on the planet” is set to clash with Fred Capes. Rebecca Laurie will fight newcomer Jodie Lee and finally Kane Cassells Vs. Dwayne Lally. One other amateur fight may be added.
Plenty of other entertainment during the night with auctions, celebrity interviews, crowd involvement and also the return of FOXY Boxing!
