Danny Green Hunting Antonio Tarver After Gunning Down Griffin

One of boxing’s biggest pound for pound punchers was back in action Wednesday night in front of 6,000 fans at Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia as light heavyweight Danny Green introduced former American reality TV star Otis Griffin to the rough and tumble game that is world class boxing.

Riding an 18 fight win streak, Griffin arrived in Australia with sky high confidence, vowing to lift Green’s IBF Pan-Pacific and PABA titles and cage the vacant IBO Asia-Pacific as well.

But the 29 year old Californian soon found himself in far deeper waters than he’d imagined possible as the hammer fisted Green rattled Griffin with a series of laser-like jabs in the first frame that crushed most of the American’s ambition.

Green stalked his prey in the second as Griffin stayed away and volunteered only a few jabs in a desperate attempt to keep the Perth knockout artist off.

It all came crashing down for the visitor in the third as Green stepped up the pressure and slammed Griffin to the floor with a lightning one-two combination that the winner of “The Next Great Champ” TV show never saw coming.

Griffin bravely got up and beat the referee’s count but was badly hurt and sent back down courtesy of a full-on jab from Green just seconds later.

Green got serious when his opponent regained his footing once again and suddenly the 18 fight win streak of Griffin was gone in a flash of leather at 1:21 of the third round.. Green pounded his fellow combatant with a full blooded left hook and this time there was no getting back up for Griffin as “The Wrecking Ball of the Pacific” had once again knocked out another rival.

Wasting no time, Green made his future intentions crystal clear when he challenged reigning IBO champion Antonio Tarver from the ring to come to Perth and face him. The 34 year old slugger, who also promotes his own fights with his manager Justin Manolikos, predicted an audience of 25,000 would pay to see such a contest and Green vowed to take a big paycut, giving Tarver the lion’s share of what is sure to be a massive cash generator.

Green improves to 24 wins, 22 by knockout, against 3 losses. Highly ranked by all the major boxing organizations at light heavyweight, the Australian star knows it’s just a matter of time before he returns to world title contention.

Green dedicated the victory at Challenge Stadium to his friend Damian Scott, a 12 year old from Perth who had tragically passed away in June after battling cancer.
