Chicago’s 8 Count Productions have signed two of boxing’s hottest prospects, middleweight Victor “The Ukranian Tiger” Polyakov and welterweight Andrezej Fonfara, to exclusive promotional contracts, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.
Said Pesoli, “I’ve been very impressed by both of these young prospects. Polyakov is a very heavy handed kid who has had four crushing knockouts in his first five fights. Most recently he looked great against Jesse Orta on the “War For 4!” undercard at the Allstate Arena with a dominating decision win.”
“Fonfara is more of a finesse boxer with great skills for a 19 year old. He’s almost six feet tall and has been able to utilize his reach to successfully fight on the outside.”
“Our fans have really enjoyed watching Victor and Andrezej and they’ve built up huge followings. Both of these guys are true professionals and I’m looking forward to working with them at 8 Count.”
The 25 year old Polyakov, 5-0 (4KO’s), had an illustrious amateur career with over 300 bouts. He made his pro debut on November 10, 2006 with a first round knockout of Tyrone Dowdy at Cicero Stadium.
Fonfara, only 19 years old, has worked to a record of 6-1 (2KO’s) since turning professional on
June 3, 2006 with a majority decision over Miroslav Kubik in Poland.
Polyakov and Fonfara will be featured on 8 Count Productions cards in Chicago in the coming months. Both are managed by Chicago businessman Jack Galara.
Polyakov and Fonfara join the world class 8 Count Productions team which includes world ranked light heavyweight Tavoris Cloud, world ranked featherweight Jose Hernandez, super bantamweight prospect Francisco Rodriguez, welterweight veterans Gilbert Venegas and Luciano Perez and lightweight prospect Mike Gonzalez.
