Boxing Card “Payback At The Track” In Oklahoma City September 16

ByBoxing Press 8/26/2007

Boxing pros duke it out at Remington Park Casino at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2007, Mexican Independence Day.

Undefeated Bulmaro Solis, 9 wins, 0 losses – all KOs, the famed knockout king from Kansas City, Missouri is set to be in Oklahoma City to fight slugger Aaron Drake in an excitement-filled lightweight main event bout scheduled for six rounds. Earlier this year, Drake was seen fighting for the vacant NBA lightweight welterweight title. Notably, Drake’s only loss by TKO was to Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in June, 2006.

Fights scheduled to occur prior to the Drake/Solis match include a lightweight bout by popular heavyweight fighter Darrin Humphrey, who won his last match by TKO in May, 2006. Humphrey will fight seasoned veteran David Robinson. Humphrey fought for the vacant NABF Title in March 2005 and he won the vacant NABO Light-heavyweight Title in May 2005. In December 2005, Humphrey got stopped in the 11th round in a tough fight for the WBC International Title. Robinson has 24 wins to his credit which includes 13 knockouts and 54 losses. Robinson won his last fight in June 2007, by 3rd round TKO.

Oklahoma’s brightest prospect, Noah Zuhdi, the former starting point guard from Saint Gregory University and McDonald’s High School All American nominee, is making his pro debut battling tough opponent Sook Syachuk. Syachuk will be traveling from Missouri to fight Zuhdi. Zuhdi is currently being trained by former World Lightweight Champion Sean O’Grady and former number one contender Buck Smith. FOX Sports commentator O’Grady will be doing the blow-by-blow commentating of the event.

Welterweight Kyle Sherman will fight Vernon Smith in a bout scheduled for four rounds. Sherman has over 90 fights to his credit as an amateur and has a pro record of 3 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws.

Country and western singer Darla Z will be appearing at the fights and will be performing her version of God Bless America before the Main Event. In October, 2005, Darla Z opened for country legend Willie Nelson at the Zoo Amphitheater. On August 9, 2007, Darla Z performed live on The Dennis Bono Show at Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be appearing again at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas on September 27, 2007.

Tickets go on sale September 1, 2007. For more information on the event or for information on how to obtain tickets, please contact Shelly Steger, Special Event Coordinator, at Remington Park Casino, e-mail: shelley.steger@remingtonpark.com or contact Gregg Scriortino, Production Manager, at (405)426-7020.

  • Callum Smith injured 4/7/2026
Callum Smith has pulled out of the David Morrell fight which was due to take place in his hometown Liverpool on 18rh April. I was looking forward to this fight. Callum has a rib injury during training camp. This is a big blow for him as he has not fought since he had that epic victory over Joshua Buatsi. Ben Whittaker will be headlining the event now. talksp […]
  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 4/7/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]

  • Devin Haney vs Rolly Romero collapses 4/3/2026
Negotiations for a WBO and WBA welterweight unification clash between Devin Haney and Rolly Romero have reportedly collapsed. Organisers had planned for the fight to headline a PBC event on May 30, live on Amazon Prime PPV. Haney has turned down the fight. The reason for Haney pulling the plug is that he wasn’t offered a guaranteed purse. PBC instead propose […]
  • Rene Santiago to defend his WBA and WBO junior flyweight belts in Japan 4/2/2026
Rene’s not talked about much. Even here in Puerto Rico he’s not as well known as Xander Zayas or even Oscar Collazo. But he’s got 2 of the 4 belts in the division, and tonight he defends them against Masataka Taniguchi in Japan. Gotta hand it to him. This is his 3rd straight fight in Japan. I admire any fighter who’s willing to go halfway around the world to […]
  • Brad Paul world title shot? 4/1/2026
Brad Paul pulled off an upset Saturday night coming from behind to stop the undefeated Shakiel Thompson. "My corner had told me ‘forget about boxing, do what you do best, now it’s time to have […]

What is happening between AJ and Usyk? They were seen holding hands as Usyk was showing AJ graves of Ukrainian soldiers. Is this just mind games to help AJ gain confidence to […]
