Popular Chicago super bantamweights Francisco “El Nino Azteca” Rodriguez and Ivan “The Baby Faced Assassin” Rodriguez will square off in a Mexican vs. Puerto Rican crosstown showdown, billed as “Pride”, for the Illinois State Super Bantamweight Title on Friday, September 14 at the Congress Theater, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.
Said Pesoli, “This fight exemplifies Chicago boxing in which both guys truly are fighting for their ethnic pride. Both Francisco and Ivan have a huge fan base and to their credit and respect of the fans they jumped at the opportunity to fight each other.”
Continued Pesoli, “Historically a Mexican fighter facing a Puerto Rican fighter makes for a great fight. Given their all action styles and the heart they’ve both shown, Chicago fight fans are in for a classic battle.”
The 23 year old Francisco, 9-1 (6KO’s) is coming off a terrific win over Alejandro Garcia on July 13 at the Congress Theater.
Ivan, 26 years old, brings a record of 8-3-1 (3KO’s) into the battle with Francisco. He is coming off a dominating performance over Vineash Rungea also on July 13th at the Congress Theater.
