Cornelius Lock captured the vacant International Boxing Association Continental junior featherweight title with an eleventh-round technical decision over Alexander Baba on Friday night. Lock (14-2-1, 10 knockouts) won when the referee halted the bout at the Orleans Hotel and Casino because of a cut over the right eye over Baba. The cut was the result of an accidental head butt in the third. The cut worsened to the point which Baba couldn’t continue. The twenty-six-year-old Lock, 122-pounds, was leading 109-100 on one judge’s score card, and 108-101 on the other two judges’ cards when the bout was halted.
There were no knockdowns.
The thirty-four-year-old Baba, 121 1/2-pounds, has a record of 21-7 with sixteen knockouts.
