Hello fight fans. As Jim Amato’s previous article outlines, there are a plethora of boxing movies to choose from today. From films depicting the lives of some of boxing’s greatest fighters to fictional projects that have spawned some of the most memorable characters that live on in our memories and vocabularies even now. It is obvious that boxing and cinema enjoy a close relationship and the passion used to make many of those memorable boxing films is easily identifiable by boxing fans of all ages. Here at Saddoboxing.com, we are launching a project we are calling, “The History of Boxing in Film.” Our writers will bring you their reviews of boxing movies throughout the cinematic era, detailing their social significance, accuracy in relation to the boxing world and personal thoughts and feelings behind some of the boxing movie fields greatest moments. We hope you will enjoy these presentations, beginning with Joseph de Beauchamp’s account of the new Clint Eastwood film, “Million Dollar Baby.”
