San Antonio’s first World Boxing Champion, native son, and San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame inductee, the late Robert Quiroga, whose tribute and motorcycle ride dubbed the RoQ and Ride Community Fest is a non-profit family and community oriented event. Spearheaded by his brother Epi Quiroga and brought together by his family.
Robert Quiroga’s untimely death shocked the public as well as his family and friends alike. The later invite the former to attend in what is to be the legacy celebration of the life of Robert Quiroga with proceeds slated to go to various educational scholarships and charitable organizations.
San Antonio City Council members are slated to be participating in the event which will be held at the Caliente Harley-Davidson at the 410 and Culebra Road Exit on Sunday October 7, beginning at 11:00 am, rain or shine. A tribute motor parade to honor the memory of Robert Quiroga is going to be pausing for reflection, at the San Fernando cemetery located on Castroville and General McMullen roads.
The parade will also be accompanied by an Army National Guard military escort. A tribute plaque to our armed forces will be on board and will have photos and mementos to our fallen brave and will be displayed at Caliente Harley-Davidson afterwards. The public is invited to contribute to his plaque with contributions of photos and mementos of friends and loved ones.
A school supply giveaway, sponsored by Walmart, will be one of the many happenings that are to include: amateur USABA Boxing sanctioned 20 fight special presentations, FCL (Future community leaders) and ” I am” Pep Rally that promotes participation and responsibility for education and family values. Music is to include 9 local bands with genres from Rock, Metal, Latino and Tejano music with special guest Javier Galvan.
