Gunn Calls Out IBO Titlist Tarver

Former IBA Cruiserweight Champion Bobby Gunn, 18-3 (15), has put his name forward to fight IBO titlist Antonio Tarver on Showtime on December 8.

Although Danny Santiago, 29-3-1 (19), has been announced the opponent for Tarver, 25-4 (18), on that date, Gunn puts no faith in this. “Fights are to be made and fights are made to be broken,” said Gunn.

“Tarver has had two opponents fall through, Danny Green and George Blades. I think he is a fat boy and can’t make 175 anymore. I’ll fight Tarver at any weight. If Danny Santiago pulls out, I’m ready.”

33 year old Gunn turned pro in 1989 and competed as a light middleweight until 1993 when he went on an 11 year hiatus, returning as a cruiserweight.

Since that time, the Virginia resident has gone 7-1 (6) with one no contest, losing a WBO title challenge to champion Enzo Macarrinelli via first round KO at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales this past April.
