to have been in with the best of his time having fought and beaten Azumah Nelson for the WBC super featherweight title. In addition, Leija also fought Oscar de la Hoya, Shane Mosley, Kostya Tszyu, Juan Lazcano, Ivan Robinson, Francisco Bojado, Gabriel Ruelas and Mickey Ward. With a final tally of forty-seven wins against seven losses, two draws and nineteen knockouts, Leija leaves us but will be remembered as a champion and a true competitor.
