“Don King and Bob Arum tried to bring Boxing here,: said Sal Musumeci President and CEO of Final Forum Boxing, “Not only did we bring it here we leave here with a new champion with his eyes set on one of the World Champions!”
Musumeci was on cloud nine following the lopsided Unanimous Decision scored by Heavyweight contender Derric Rossy over Ray Mercer at the Venetian in Macau China last night.
The judges scored it 117-111, 117-111, 115-113.
Only knockdown in the fight was scored in the twelfth and final round Rossy went down on what looked like a slip but the referee scored it a knockdown.
“I was off balance and he hit me,” said Rossy, “my hats off to this guy Ray Mercer could beat anybody in our division, he’s tough and can hit like hell.”
When asked what was next? Rossy replied, “I’m open to anything, I really think my skills have reached the next level.”
Rossy returns to the United States with three new belts; The NABO, WBF and WBC Asia Heavyweight titles.
“We’ll take all comers,” said Musumeci who when asked about the possibility of a rematch with Eddie Chambers said,”all comers if Eddie wants to do it again and the deal is right we’ll listen, but I can assure you this it will not be the same as the last time I promise you that!”
